Helena Powell x East Anglia Alpaca Mill
This is a collaboration between Helena Powell and East Anglia Alpaca Mill. The main goals of this collaboration are to explore a completely transparent production with each process limiting electricity and water usage. Each piece has been woven to be one of a kind, with all-natural colours.
No Dyeing, No Electricity, Handmade Completely in Britain.
Steps Of Collaboration
-
Spinning
Based 20 minutes from Norwich, Norfolk, East Anglia Alpaca Mill specialises in Alpaca Spinning. They specialise in minimalising wastage from Alpaca with adapted equipment and carefully reviewing each stage for future improvement.
-
Weaving
With each warp and weft carefully placed to create a one of a kind bespoke piece. Handwoven in our studio with irregular stripes in the warp to highlight the natural colours of the alpaca and add a depth only handwaving can achieve.
-
Finishings
With each piece finished by hand. From the hand furling, fringe twisting to the final steam to soften the fibres ready for you to wear! Each of the finishing processes has been combined to ensure the softest feel for the final scarf.
